You must be eligible for a qualifying pension to access the Pension Loans Scheme.
The qualifying pensions are:
If you get a loan under this scheme, you may not be eligible for a Pensioner Concession Card. You can apply for a Commonwealth Seniors Health Care Card.
You’ll get a Pensioner Concession Card if it comes with your pension, if you get both of the following:
- a loan under the Pension Loans Scheme
- a qualifying pension payment.
If you’re registered in the Pension Bonus Scheme
Claiming the Pension Loans Scheme may affect your eligibility for the Pension Bonus Scheme. This also applies if you claim a qualifying pension. One of our Financial Information Service Officers can help you work out what’s best for you.
