If your Centrelink online account is linked to myGov, sign in from early July to view, download or ask for a copy of your Centrelink payment summary. If it’s not available, it might be delayed due to an error identified in some payment summaries.
You can also use the Express Plus Centrelink mobile app. To do this, sign in to the app and select More, then Statements.
You can also use:
- self service terminals at some service centres
- the request a document prompt when you call the Centrelink phone self service.
When to lodge your tax return
Your payment summary information should pre-fill in your ATO tax return by mid-July. Other income and information should pre-fill in your tax return by late July. It’s best to lodge your tax return once all your information pre-fills and your income statement from any employer is marked as tax ready. This will help you avoid errors and having to amend and re-submit it again later.
If you can access your payment summary and your payment information hasn’t pre-filled into your tax return by late July, you can add it in yourself. Use the details on your payment summary to fill in your tax return. Get help to lodge your tax return online with myTax on the ATO website.
If your payment summary is delayed
If your payment summary isn’t available, it might be delayed due to an error affecting some customers getting their 2024-25 Centrelink payment summaries.
We’ll send you a letter to let you know if your 2024-25 payment summary is delayed. This may also delay your:
- payment summary from showing in your online account
- payment information pre-filling into your Australian Taxation Office (ATO) tax return
- family balancing if you get Family Tax Benefit or Child Care Subsidy.
It’s best not to lodge your tax return or a non-lodgement advice, until we send you your payment summary. This will help avoid any errors in your tax return that you’d need to amend later.
You don’t need to do anything if your payment summary is delayed. You don’t need to contact us or the ATO. Once your payment summary is ready, we’ll send it to you through your preferred notification channel, and your payment information will pre-fill into your tax return. If you get your payment summary and your payment information hasn’t pre-filled in your tax return, you can add it in yourself.
You’re not affected by the delay if you can access your Centrelink payment summary in your online account from early July and your payment details pre-fill into your ATO tax return by mid-July.
