You may get Rent Assistance for some payments depending on your age, rent or accommodation costs and whether you live with or without your parents or guardians.
If you live in the same home with either or both of your parents or guardians, we consider you to live with them.
We don’t consider you to live with them if you live without them in an investment property or fully self-contained area they own. A fully self-contained area can be a self-contained flat or caravan. It can be on the same block of land that their home is on.
There are special rules to get Rent Assistance with all the following payments:
- ABSTUDY Living Allowance
- Disability Support Pension
- JobSeeker Payment
- Youth Allowance.
