Highly specialised drugs

Highly specialised drugs (HSDs) are subsidised through the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and administered under section 100 of the National Health Act 1953.

HSDs are for the treatment of complex medical conditions that require ongoing specialised medical supervision. The HSD Program is part of the PBS. Read the guide to prescribing, dispensing and claiming HSDs.

Information about Community Access HSD arrangements is on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) website.
