Defence housing is when you have a lease or formal rental agreement for your accommodation with Defence Housing Australia. If you’re a Defence Housing Australia tenant, we work out your Rent Assistance on the rent you pay to them.
If you get Rental Allowance from Defence Housing, we calculate Rent Assistance on the amount of rent you pay, minus the Temporary Rental Allowance subsidy.
