Dad and Partner Pay

A payment for up to 2 weeks while you care for your new child born or adopted before 1 July 2023.

If you want to make a claim or you’ve already started a claim, you must submit this by 11:59 pm AEST 30 June 2024. You won’t be able to claim after this date.

To get Dad and Partner Pay for a child born or adopted before 1 July 2023, you must meet all of the following:

  • care for a newborn or newly adopted child
  • have met the income test
  • have met the work test
  • not be working and not be taking paid leave during your Dad and Partner Pay period except for allowable reasons
  • have registered or applied to register your child’s birth with your state or territory birth registry, if they’re a newborn.

You must also claim Dad and Partner Pay within the claiming timeframes.

If your child is born or adopted from 1 July 2023, you may be able to claim Parental Leave Pay.
