You can complete a Section 23A statement if you haven’t received any relevant Medicare benefits or care since either:
- the date of injury
- your last notice of past benefits.
You can also complete a Medicare Compensation Recovery Section 23A statement form declaring that you haven’t:
- had a Notice of past benefits issued in the past 6 months
- received any further eligible benefits
- received further eligible benefits relating to the claim, since the Notice of past benefits expired.
Send the completed statement and declaration to the address on the form. When we get this statement, we’ll send you a new Notice of charge. This states the amount that you will need to repay to us.
The compensation payer will use the Notice of charge to pay us first. Then they’ll pay the rest of the compensation money to you. This usually takes up to 3 months.
