Report a Services Australia or myGov scam

You can report scams impersonating Services Australia and myGov, including Centrelink, Medicare or Child Support.

If you’ve found a scam impersonating us, you can report it by forwarding it or taking a screenshot and emailing it to reportascam@servicesaustralia.gov.au.

Reporting the scam is important and can help us fight scams and protect others.

Call our Scams and Identity Theft Helpdesk immediately if you have:

  • opened a link in a suspicious text message, email or social media message
  • given someone your myGov sign in details or other personal information
  • visited a website that pretended to be us or downloaded a fake Services Australia or myGov app
  • concerns about the security of your Services Australia records.

Email scams

If you get an email scam, forward the entire email to reportascam@servicesaustralia.gov.au. You do not need to change or add any extra information. After you report the scam, you should delete the email and block the sender.

Text message scams

If you get a text message scam, email a screenshot of the text message that includes the suspicious link to reportascam@servicesaustralia.gov.au. After you report the scam, you should delete the message and block the suspicious contact.

Social media accounts

If you see an account pretending to be us, email us a screenshot that includes the account name and any suspicious links to reportascam@servicesaustralia.gov.au.

Social media private and direct messages

If you get an online message from an account pretending to be us or our staff, email a screenshot that includes the account name and any suspicious links to reportascam@servicesaustralia.gov.au. After you report the scam, you should delete and block the suspicious account.

Telephone scams

If you get a scam call from someone pretending to be us and can see the phone number the scammer called from, email the phone number and any other details you have to reportascam@servicesaustralia.gov.au.
