Proving your identity online

How to prove who you are to Centrelink online.

You can prove your identity online for Centrelink using either:

You’ll need a myGov account and to enter details from your identity documents for both of these options. If you don’t have a myGov account, you can go to the myGov website to create one.

If you use a strong Digital Identity to prove who you are, you won’t need to visit a service centre. If you prove your identity using your myGov account, you may need to bring acceptable photo identity documents to a service centre.

We may invite you to use video chat to confirm your identity if you claim one of the following payments online:

  • Youth Allowance (Student)
  • JobSeeker Payment
  • Youth Allowance (Job Seeker).
