Workforce Incentive Program – Doctor Stream
Encourages medical practitioners to work in rural and remote areas of Australia.
About the program
The Workforce Incentive Program (WIP) – Doctor Stream started on 1 January 2020 as part of the 2018-19 Stronger Rural Health Strategy Initiative. The WIP – Doctor Stream replaced the General Practice Rural Incentives Program (GPRIP). It continues to encourage medical practitioners to practise in rural and remote communities and promote careers in rural medicine.
Initial payments under the WIP – Doctor Stream will be made to eligible providers in May 2020.
Find out more about the WIP – Doctor Stream and eligibility on the Department of Health website, or contact us.
The Modified Monash Model (MMM) determines eligible locations, which are classified as MM3-7. On 1 January 2020, the MMM was updated to the new 2019 version to determine eligible locations. Find out more on the Doctor Connect website.
