Changes to income

Changes to your parents’ or guardians' income, and changes to your siblings’ situations can mean your payment rate changes.

We reassess your parents’ or guardians’ income each year. This is to see if their income will change your payment.

We generally assess what their income was for the previous 2024-25 financial year. However, if their income has changed significantly, we may assess it based on the 2025-26 financial year.

We might do this if your parents’ or guardians’ income has either:

  • significantly decreased, and the decrease is likely to last for at least 2 years
  • significantly increased by more than 25% of the 2024-25 financial year, and their income is more than $83,402.

Your payment may also change if your siblings’ situations change. Read about how the family pool works.
