You can apply for a review of a decision to not approve your application to become an authorised nurse prescriber within 28 days of receiving the outcome notification.
Section 84AAQ of the Health Legislation Amendment (Prescribing of Pharmaceutical Benefits) Act 2026 allows for a reconsideration of this decision.
When you apply for a review of the decision, the agency can reconsider the decision and will:
- speak with you about the decision, if required
- look at the facts, the law, and the policy involved in the decision
- affirm the decision or approve the eligible nurse prescriber
- contact you to let you know the outcome of your written review request.
Application reviews can only be conducted based on the original information and supporting documentation supplied.
Any details omitted from the original application that you want considered would need to be included with a new application.
We aim to finish a reconsideration of a decision and provide response in 28 days from the date your written request is received.
If we change the decision, you will only get your approval as an authorised nurse prescriber and prescriber number issued from the date the review of decision is finalised and you are notified of the outcome.
If you’ve written to us to ask for a review of a decision, there’s no need to call us to check on the progress of your request while it’s under review.
