What we do with it

We use the results to identify areas where we need to take action to improve outcomes for:

  • citizens
  • leadership
  • employee engagement
  • operational effectiveness.

Our results for 2023 show positive results in many areas. This includes:

  • 92% of staff understood how their role contributes to achieving an outcome for the Australian public
  • 87% of staff said they were happy to go the extra mile at work when required
  • 87% of staff believe the people in their workgroup cooperate to complete tasks.

Our workforce is key to realising our 5-year master plan vision. The census identified several priority areas for us to focus on which are included in the agency census action plan. The action plan targets improvements in:

  • staff engagement
  • health and wellbeing
  • leadership
  • attracting, developing and retaining talent.

We’ll continue to focus on other important areas highlighted in the census feedback.
