Our agency
We are responsible for the delivery of advice and high-quality, accessible social, health and child support services and payments.
On 26 May 2019, the Prime Minister announced the establishment of Services Australia, and on 1 February 2020 we became an executive agency in the Social Services portfolio. Services Australia continues to deliver Medicare, Centrelink, Child Support payments and services.
Payments and services
We offer a range of health, social and welfare payments and services through the following programs.
Medicare
Looks after the health of Australians through programs such as the:
Centrelink
Delivers payments and services and provides services at times of major change for all of the following:
- seniors
- job seekers
- students and trainees
- families
- carers
- parents
- people with disability
- Indigenous Australians
- people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Child Support
Gives separated parents the financial and emotional support needed for their children’s wellbeing. Read more about how we engage Child Support stakeholders.
