Who it affects

Getting a Cashless Debit Card depends on your age, where you live and what payment you get from us.

Ceduna and surrounds, South Australia and East Kimberley and Goldfields regions, Western Australia

You'll get a Cashless Debit Card (CDC) if you’re getting a working age payment like JobSeeker Payment and have a permanent address in any of these areas:

  • Ceduna or surrounds, South Australia
  • East Kimberley or Goldfields regions, Western Australia.

If you get Age Pension, you can volunteer to use the CDC.

To do this, call us on the Cashless Debit Card hotline.

Read more about how the CDC works.

Bundaberg and Hervey Bay regions, Queensland

You’ll get a CDC if you have a permanent address in the Bundaberg and Hervey Bay region. You'll need to also meet both of these conditions:

You can volunteer to get the CDC. This applies if you get an eligible income support payment, including Age Pension. To do this, call us on the Cashless Debit Card hotline.

Cape York region, Queensland

You’re eligible for the CDC if you have a permanent address in any of these areas and are referred by the Family Responsibilities Commission:

  • Aurukun
  • Coen
  • Doomadgee
  • Hope Vale
  • Mossman Gorge.

Northern Territory

You may choose to move to the CDC if you have a permanent address in the Northern Territory and are either:

  • currently on Income Management
  • getting an income support payment.

The total amount of money you get won’t change.

The percentage of money going onto the CDC will stay the same as under Income Management.

The full amount of any lump sum payments and arrears will also go on the card.

Card issuers

You can choose between a CDC from either the Traditional Credit Union (TCU) or Indue Ltd.

Setting up deductions

When you move from Income Management to the CDC, you’ll need to set up any deductions you have like rent, electricity and water. This is because when you move to CDC, any deductions you set up under Income Management will stop.

The bank you choose will help you set up your new CDC deductions.

Volunteer for the CDC

If you get a payment from us and choose to volunteer for the CDC, 50% of your payment will go on the card. The rest will go in your normal bank account.

You can move to the CDC by calling us on the Cashless Debit Card hotline.
