What it is

A lump sum payment for New Zealanders seriously affected by the floods in NSW starting in February 2022.

The New Zealand Disaster Recovery Payment (NZDRP) is a lump sum payment to support you if you’ve been significantly affected by the NSW floods.

It’s not for minor damage or inconvenience.

You can choose to get this payment in 2 parts.

If you lost income as a direct result of the floods, you may also be eligible for New Zealand Disaster Recovery Allowance. If you’re eligible, you can get both the New Zealand Disaster Recovery Payment and New Zealand Disaster Recovery Allowance.

Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment - Special Supplement

Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment - Special Supplement is an additional payment for the following LGAs:

  • Ballina
  • Byron
  • Clarence Valley
  • Kyogle
  • Lismore
  • Richmond Valley
  • Tweed.

You’ll get the Special Supplement if you meet the NZ DRP eligibility rules and you live in one of these LGAs.

You don’t need to submit a claim for the Special Supplement. Once you get your NZ DRP, we’ll pay the Special Supplement into your nominated bank account.

We’ll pay the Special Supplement in 2 parts.

Clarence Valley, Lismore and Richmond Valley

If we’ve granted your NZ DRP claim on or before 8 March 2022, you’ll get the first part from 15 March 2022. If we grant your NZ DRP claim on or after 9 March 2022, you’ll get the first part 7 days after we grant your claim. You’ll get the second part 7 days after that.

Ballina, Byron, Kyogle and Tweed

If we’ve granted your NZ DRP claim on or before 15 March 2022, you’ll get the first part from 22 March 2022. If we grant your NZ DRP claim on or after 16 March 2022, you’ll get the first part 7 days after we grant your claim. You’ll get the second part 7 days after that.

If you haven’t claimed NZ DRP yet, we’ll assess if you’re eligible for the Special Supplement when you claim. You have until the due date to submit your claim. Check the claims due date for New Zealand Disaster Recovery Payment.
