What it is

A short term payment to help you following the NSW floods starting in February 2022.

Disaster Recovery Allowance (DRA) is a short term payment to help you if a disaster directly affects your income.

You can get it for a maximum of 13 weeks. We’ll pay this from the date you started losing income as a direct result of the NSW floods starting in February 2022.

You may also be eligible for Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment.

If you’re a New Zealand citizen living in Australia, check to see if you’re eligible for:

Disaster Recovery Allowance Top-up

The DRA Top-up is additional assistance for people who live or work in the Lismore Local Government Area, and who have lost income because they have been significantly affected by the NSW Floods.

You’ll get this payment if you meet the following rules:

  • you received or will get DRA
  • you lived or worked in the Local Government Area of Lismore when it was impacted by the floods.

You don’t need to submit a claim for this payment. We’ll pay it into your nominated bank account if you are eligible.

You can get this payment each week for up to 13 weeks.

If you haven’t claimed DRA yet, you can still be eligible for the Top-up payment. You have until the due date to submit your claim. Check the claims due date for Disaster Recovery Allowance.
