We can no longer accept foreign currency cheques and money orders

Published: 19 November 2024

From 19 December 2024 we can no longer accept payments made to us by foreign currency cheques and international money orders.

Due to changes to the Australian payment system, we can no longer accept payments made to us by either:

  • a foreign currency cheque
  • international money order.

This may affect you if you’re living overseas and:

  • pay or receive child support or spousal maintenance
  • repay a Centrelink debt.

If you’re making a payment to us from overseas, you’ll now need to use an electronic payment method to send foreign currency.
