To have your CCS balanced, you and your partner, if you have one, must do one of the following:
- lodge your tax returns
- tell us you don’t need to and confirm your income online.
Keep in mind that it can take up to 28 days for us to get your income information from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). This is from the date you get your Notice of Assessment.
Even if you have told the ATO that you don’t need to lodge a tax return, you still need to let us know and tell us what your income was.
If you were single and got an income support payment for the entire financial year, your Family Tax Benefit may be automatically balanced. However, you still need to confirm your income for us to balance your CCS.
If you separated during the year we still need to confirm your ex-partners income. If you have any concerns about confirming this income, please phone our Families line.
To track your balancing progress, use your Express Plus Centrelink mobile app.
