South East Queensland flood debt pause, February and March 2022

This pause applied to people living in postcodes affected by floods in South East Queensland beginning in February 2022.

If you owe money and were affected by these events, your debt pause has now ended.

If you have an existing debt, we contacted you ahead of time to tell you when your repayments were due.

If you have a new debt, we’ll send you a letter. This letter will tell you when your repayments are due and what action you need to take.

Further support available

If you’re still in financial hardship, you may have the option to pause for a further 3 months. This option will appear in the Money you owe service in your Centrelink online account through myGov or the Express Plus Centrelink app. You can also use phone self service by calling the Centrelink debt recovery line.

If you do not understand your debt or you’re worried about repaying money, please talk to us. You can call us on your regular Centrelink payment line, or the Centrelink debt recovery line.

If you’re worried about your financial situation we have extra support available.
