Software support for residential aged care

Support files to help software developers transition to the Australian National Aged Care Classification (AN-ACC) funding model.

On 1 October 2022, AN-ACC will replace the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI). These changes will affect you if you provide software to the residential aged care sector.

You may need to make changes to your software by 1 October 2022 to support claiming changes under the new AN-ACC funding model.

Payment system upgrade

To support the move to the AN-ACC funding model, we upgraded our internal payment system. This changed the payment statement in CSV and XML formats and how providers view payment statements in the Aged Care Provider Portal.

Updates to your software were required to interpret the new data fields in the payment statement.

Download the 2022 system replacement changes eKit to access the files.

A new API and technical document for Residential Care Special Payment has been updated to improve payment statement readability and provide a clear explanation of special payments. You can find more information on the Health Systems Developer Portal

If your software product supports providers who offer extra services to care recipients, the End date is now available as an editable field. To view the updated document log into the Health Systems Developer Portal, select Table v.3.0 followed by Care Event v.3.1.

Changes to entry requirements for palliative care

Entry requirements for palliative care recipients changed from 23 July 2022. Providers need to tell us if someone is entering a service to receive planned palliative care.

There’s no initial impact on payments. Implementing the changes earlier will ensure people in care get the correct payments when the funding assessment model changes on 1 October 2022.

To view the technical document log in the Health Systems Developer Portal, select Table v.4.0 followed by Residential Care Entry v2.0.0.

AC027 form process change

The process for rolling out a new version of your software application is changing. In production, providers will no longer need to submit a new AC027 form when they release a new version of your application. You’ll still need to follow the existing Notice of Integration (NOI) process.

New AN-ACC funding model

You’ll need to upgrade your software before the new AN-ACC funding model is introduced on 1 October 2022. This will allow residential aged care providers to keep using your software to access our Aged Care Web Services. It will also introduce new functionality and other improvements to your software products.

Technical documentation and APIs are available now on the Health Systems Developer Portal to help you upgrade your software.

Download the eKit to access information on AN-ACC payment statement CSV and XML.
