Published: 25 September 2024

The Department of Health and Aged Care has resources to help you talk about shingles vaccinations with your Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.

A 2-dose course of the shingles vaccine Shingrix® is free under the National Immunisation Program (NIP) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 and over.

Shingrix® prevents shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander resources include:

  • clinical advice
  • fact sheet
  • podcast
  • videos.

The Shield yourself from shingles resources are on the Department of Health and Aged Care website.
