People with disability

If you get a disability payment from us there are no changes to your payment due to coronavirus.

You may get 1 or both Economic Support Payments from late April 2020. We'll pay these straight into your bank account.

If you’re concerned about coming to a service centre, use our self service options.

You can report your income in any of the following ways:

Tell us about changes to your circumstances, using any of the following:

If you don’t have access to a self service option, call the People with disability line.

Sickness Allowance special arrangements

You can keep getting Sickness Allowance until your medical certificate ends. If your circumstances change because of coronavirus you don’t need to tell us if:

  • your employer closes
  • you’re unable to study full time.

If you still need financial support when your medical certificate ends, you can transfer to JobSeeker Payment.

From 27 April 2020, you can also get the temporary fortnightly $550 Coronavirus Supplement if you’re getting either:

  • Sickness Allowance
  • JobSeeker Payment.

Participation requirements

Participation requirements are currently suspended for Disability Support Pension.

Mobility Allowance

We’ve stopped Mobility Allowance reviews due to coronavirus. We won’t contact you to check if your situation has changed. If you’re already getting Mobility Allowance, this won’t affect your payment.

National Disability Insurance Scheme

You can still access services under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The NDIS has more information about coronavirus in their disaster response.

Family and domestic Violence

If you’re affected by family and domestic violence, we can help. We provide information, support and referrals.
