How we apply the work test has changed for people whose child’s birth or adoption is from 1 July 2023.
If your child is born or adopted from 1 July 2023, you need to meet the work test to be eligible.
The work test is the number of hours you have worked before the child’s birth.
Depending on your relationship to the child, the other parent may also need to meet the work test for you to get this payment.
