Incurred But Not Reported Indemnity Scheme (IBNR)
This scheme helps participating Medical Defence Organisations (MDOs) where they are not able to cover their IBNR liabilities.
Applications for claims under the IBNR can only be made by United Medical Protection Limited. They are the 1 eligible participating MDO for the scheme.
If you don’t represent United Medical Protection Limited, you can’t apply to claim under the IBNR.
The IBNR covers 100% of eligible costs for claims made against medical professionals.
The Medical Indemnity Act 2002 is the legislation that applies to the IBNR.
Read the Medical Indemnity Act 2002 on the Federal Register of Legislation website.
An IBNR application can only be made for eligible claims against certain medical professionals. Applications can only be made by representatives of United Medical Protection Limited.
You need to use the Medical Indemnity Online Claims (MIOC) service in HPOS to submit an application under the IBNR.
