If you use PBS Online, you need to upgrade to web services

30 September 2021

From 13 March 2022 you’ll need web services ready software and PRODA to access PBS Online.

The way you submit claims and transmit data to us is changing.

From 13 March 2022, you’ll need web services ready software to access PBS Online. PKI authentication is also being replaced with Provider Digital Access (PRODA).

What you can do now to get ready

Your software developer will contact you when they have your web services software ready.

You’ll need to register your organisation in PRODA. You may have done this to access Health Professional Online Services functions such as Find a Patient, PBS Stationery Online Ordering, and the CTG PBS Co-Payment Register. If not, you can register your organisation now in PRODA so you’re ready when your software becomes available.

Before you register your organisation in PRODA, check:

  • you’ve created your individual PRODA account
  • your organisation name and Australian Business Number (ABN) are correct and active on the Australian Business Register (ABR)
  • you’re an Associate or Authorised contact for the organisation on the ABR.

Make sure your personal name recorded on the ABR exactly matches your individual PRODA account name. You can view or update your ABN details online using myGovID or contact the ABR.

The upgrade to web services also affects other digital health and aged care channels. Find more information in our web services eKit.
