Together we can help people affected by family and domestic violence
24 November 2020
During the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, we’re sharing with you the support we have available.
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based violence calls for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. It runs from 25 November 2020 to 10 December 2020.
This campaign is a good opportunity to inform and raise awareness of family and domestic violence. We recognise that family and domestic violence is unacceptable in any form and can affect anyone. It can include physical, financial, and emotional abuse, abuse through technology, neglect and much more. You can read more about what family and domestic violence is.
We have support available to help those affected by family and domestic violence to access services, and make connections to other community organisations.
We can provide people affected by family and domestic violence with:
- social work support including short term counselling and crisis intervention
- referrals for ongoing support and assistance.
If you’re helping someone to access support from us, you can direct them to our Payment and Service Finder. This helps them to locate support services in their area.
You can also direct them to our family and domestic violence page. This will help them find the type of payments, services and referrals we offer.
If someone needs immediate help, you should call the Police on 000.
