Allowable absences
You can get unlimited allowable absences if you live in, or your child attends care in a declared local emergency area that lasts more than 7 days. This includes areas affected by any of the following:
From 23 February to 16 March 2022
From 2 March to 16 March 2022
We’ll apply these absences automatically. You won’t have to use your 52 allowable absences for the 2021-22 financial year during this time.

Gap fee waiver
If you live in, or your child attends care in a declared local emergency area, your service may waive your gap fee.
This applies if your child is absent or the service is closed from 23 February to 30 June 2022.
The service can do this for the duration of the local emergency.
It’s up to your child care service to decide whether they waive the gap fee or not. You should talk to your child care service if you think this applies to you.
