Services Australia General Manager Hank Jongen said the agency’s Financial Information Service Officers (FISOs) are hosting a series of webinars that cover a wide range of topics.

“The two upcoming financial webinars have something for everyone, to help people better manage their money and plan for their future,” Mr Jongen said.

“The ‘Financial Fitness’ webinar on 27 June 2023 will provide hints and tips on creating a budget and managing expenses, and on 29 June 2023 the ‘Retrenchment and Looking for Work’ webinar will cover how redundancy payments affect government services and superannuation considerations.”

Mr Jongen said the webinars are an extension of the popular Financial Information Service that has been offered by Services Australia for more than 34 years.

“Services Australia’s FISOs help Australians around the country every day to build their financial literacy and make informed financial decisions,” Mr Jongen said.

“Over the last few years the agency has had to look at new ways of connecting with people, and moving the popular Financial Information Service seminars online made sense.

“It means that no matter where people live in Australia, they can join the live events and have their questions answered in real time. 

“And if you cannot make it on the day of the webinar, the webinars can also be watched online after the event, so you can always catch up on the information at a time that suits you.

“From superannuation for young people, to accommodation options in retirement, the webinars are a great way for people to better understand their own financial affairs and gain confidence dealing with financial matters regardless of age or income,” Mr Jongen said.

“Whether you are signing up for your first job or signing up for retirement, it is never too early or too late to plan for your financial future.”
