It’s Scams Awareness Week. Help protect yourself by learning how to spot a scam.

Scams target people of all backgrounds, ages and income levels. That’s why knowing the signs of a scam is so important.

This year, Scams Awareness Week will focus on how to spot a scam. Running from 7 to 11 November 2022, it’s a great time to learn the tips you need to protect yourself from scams.

To help you spot a scam when dealing with us, it’s important to remember that we’ll never ask you to:

  • click on links in a text message or email
  • pay us money to help you
  • provide personal details on social media, email or text message.

If you’re not sure if something from us is genuine, phone us to check.

If you’ve been scammed by someone claiming to be from Services Australia or have concerns about the security of your accounts, you should report it. You can report it to our Scams and Identity Theft Helpdesk on 1800 941 126.
