Getting a refund when you don’t have your cards
You can claim a refund from us if you don’t have your Medicare or concession cards when you buy PBS medicine.
You may have to pay more when you collect PBS medicine if you don’t have either your:
- Medicare card
- concession or health care cards.
If this happens, ask your pharmacist for an official receipt to claim a refund. This isn’t a regular sales receipt.
To claim a refund, download and complete the Patient claim for refund Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) form.
You may not get a full refund for some brand-name medicines. These often cost more than generic medicines. Read more about generic medicines vs. brand-name medicines on the healthdirect website.
