Your compensation payer’s responsibility
When you’ve had an injury or illness and make a claim for compensation, there's things your compensation payer must tell us.
When you claim for compensation for injury or illness, the payer must tell us if:
- the compensation awarded is more than $5,000, including all costs
- a reimbursement arrangement is made more than 6 months from the date of the claim.
To do this, they need to complete a Medicare Compensation Recovery Notice of judgment or settlement form. They have 28 days from the judgment or settlement date to send us this form.
They don’t need to tell us if:
- your compensation is less than $5,000, including all costs
- within 6 months of making your compensation claim, you have a reimbursement arrangement for medical expenses.
