How much you can get
The amount of Widow Allowance you can get depends on your circumstances.
We update rates on 20 March and 20 September each year.
You need to report your income to us every fortnight if it changes.
Living or travelling overseas can also affect your payment.
The highest rate you can get is $667.50 a fortnight. The regular payment rate increased from 1 April 2021 by $50 a fortnight.
You’ll keep getting the temporary Coronavirus Supplement at a rate of $150 per fortnight until 31 March 2021.
Your first payment in April may include a partial increase to your regular payment amount and a final Coronavirus Supplement payment. This applies if your reporting date is on or before 13 April 2021. You’ll only get the Coronavirus Supplement if you get at least $1 of your regular payment.
You may have to pay income tax on Widow Allowance.
Keep in mind, new claims for Widow Allowance closed on 1 July 2018.
If you’re already getting Widow Allowance, you must continue to meet eligibility to keep your payment.
