Paid Parental Leave period
Your Paid Parental Leave period can be either 18 or 12 weeks. This depends on your child's date of birth or adoption.
If your child’s birth or adoption is before 1 July 2020
Your Paid Parental Leave period will be a single continuous 18 week block. This is 90 payable days. To get the full 18 weeks, your start date can’t be more than 34 weeks after your child’s birth or adoption.
We’ll ask you to nominate a start date for your Paid Parental Leave period when you claim.
It must be paid as a single block.
If your child’s birth or adoption is on or after 1 July 2020
Your Parental Leave Pay will include both:
- a continuous Paid Parental Leave period of up to 12 weeks which is 60 payable days
- 30 Flexible Paid Parental Leave days.
These make up 90 payable days. To get the full amount, your start date can’t be more than 40 weeks after your child’s birth or adoption.
The Paid Parental Leave period must be paid as a single block.
When you claim we’ll ask you:
- to nominate a start date for your Paid Parental Leave period
- when you would like to get your Flexible Paid Parental Leave days.
