Changing your claim to Parental Leave Pay
You can change from Newborn Upfront Payment and Newborn Supplement to Parental Leave Pay if you think it's a better option for you.
If you decide Parental Leave Pay is a better option for you, you can claim Parental Leave Pay even if you’ve already received Newborn Upfront Payment and Newborn Supplement. If you’re eligible, you’ll just need to pay back any Newborn Upfront Payment and Newborn Supplement you got.
You can claim Parental Leave Pay either:
- up to 3 months before your child's expected date of birth or adoption
- as late as 52 weeks after their birth or adoption.
To get the full 18 weeks of Parental Leave Pay, you should claim within 34 weeks after the birth or adoption of your child. Read more about Parental Leave Pay.
