Your options and obligations for Carer Allowance.
We need to know about changes that could increase, reduce or stop your Carer Allowance or Carer Allowance Health Care Card.
We use your adjusted taxable income to work out if you can get Carer Allowance.
You can still get Carer Allowance if someone else provides care while you have a break, or the person you provide care for goes into hospital.
You can request to transfer Carer Payment or Carer Allowance you’re getting for a child, to an adult payment. To do this, the child you provide care for must be turning 16.
We may review your income and the level of care you give to check if you can keep Carer Allowance.
We may pay Carer Allowance if you leave Australia for a short time. You must still meet the Carer Allowance rules at all times.
