Annual and lifetime caps
There are annual and lifetime caps for fees for aged care. They apply if you started care after 1 July 2014.
You can find out what the annual and lifetime caps amounts are on the My Aged Care website.
We will write to you and your aged care provider once you’ve reached the annual or lifetime cap.
Annual caps
Once you reach the annual cap, you won’t have to pay any income or means tested care fees until the next anniversary of the date you first entered care.
Lifetime cap
Once you reach the lifetime cap, you won’t have to pay any income or means tested care fees.
Cap amounts changes
We update cap amounts on 20 March and 20 September each year in line with the consumer price index.
Read more about changes to annual and lifetime caps on the My Aged Care website.
