You or your child can claim ABSTUDY for 2020 now
4 October 2019
Claim ABSTUDY before December so your child can get their payments as soon as possible.
ABSTUDY helps Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians with the costs of studying or doing an Australian Apprenticeship. Your child may get help with their school fees, boarding and travel.
If you’re a parent or guardian and your child’s between 11 and 16, you can claim for them.
If your child’s 16 or older, or independent, they can claim themselves.
It’s a good idea to get your child’s ABSTUDY claim in early. This is important if your child’s moving away from home to study and want help with their travel costs. Once we approve your child’s ABSTUDY claim, they can organise their travel.
You or your child can claim as soon as you know your study details for 2020.
Check if your child can get ABSTUDY and find out how to claim.
