You may be eligible for free vaccines
26 June 2020
From 1 July 2020, Australians over 70 and Indigenous Australians over 50 may get a free pneumococcal vaccine.
Vaccination is a safe and effective way to protect you from pneumococcal disease.
The Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) may write to you if you’re able to get a free pneumococcal or shingles vaccine.
If you haven’t already, get a pneumococcal or shingles vaccine from your vaccination provider, right away.
The vaccine is free, but you may pay a fee to your vaccination provider for your appointment.
Make sure your vaccination provider records your vaccines on the AIR. Vaccines recorded on the AIR will show on your immunisation history statement.
COVID-19 restrictions need you to show your proof of your immunisations, including the flu vaccine.
You can get your immunisation history using your Medicare online account or the Express Plus Medicare mobile app. You can also ask your vaccination provider to print you a copy, or call the AIR on 1800 653 809.
