We’re sending 2018-19 Family Tax Benefit Account Payable notices
3 February 2021
If you got an account payable notice here’s why, and what you can do next.
We've been sending Account Payable notices for Family Tax Benefit (FTB) paid in the 2018-19 financial year. You’ll get one if you didn’t confirm your income for that financial year.
If you get one, it’s not too late to confirm your family income. You must confirm your family income for 2018-19 by either:
- lodging a tax return with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
- telling us if you don’t need to lodge a tax return.
Remember, if you have a partner we’ll also need their confirmed income. If they don’t need to lodge a tax return you can let us know.
Doing this will allow us to reassess your debt and balance your FTB.
If you don’t confirm your family’s income:
- we may stop your fortnightly FTB
- you'll need to repay all the FTB you got for 2018-19.
If you don’t do anything by the date in the Account Payable notice, we’ll start recovering what you need to pay back.
We know it can be stressful to be told you owe us money. Please talk to us if you’re worried about owing us money or paying back money.
