We’re making reporting your employer details easier
14 September 2020
When you go into your online account to report your employment income you may see all your employers’ details pre-filled.
From mid September, when you log into your online account, your employers’ details may be pre-filled.
This change is due to Single Touch Payroll improvements. We’re working with the Australian Taxation Office to make it faster and easier for you to report your income.
You’ll need to check this pre-filled information and confirm it’s correct.
If the details aren’t included you can add them. If the details are wrong you can reject them and then enter the correct details.
If you have multiple employers, each one may be pre-filled in your online account. This will save you having to add new employer details each time you report.
All your other reporting obligations stay the same.
You still need to enter in:
- the hours you’ve worked
- the gross amount you’ve earned in your reporting period.
Your employer reports your employment information to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). We’re able to pre-fill employer details because we share this information with the ATO.
These changes make reporting your income easier. More changes will happen as we continue to improve this service.
Where to get more information
Your payment summary information should now be pre-filled in the ATOs myTax system.
Under the changes, we’ll assess the gross income paid to you in your reporting period
