We’ll start balancing 2019-20 Child Care Subsidy from next week

5 August 2020

All families need to confirm their income with us to start balancing 2019-20 subsidies.

You need to check that your bank details are up to date before we balance your Child Care Subsidy (CCS). If we pay you a top up, we’ll pay it to the bank account you’ve given us. Use our guide to check and update your bank details online.

How to confirm your income

You need to either:

  • lodge your tax return with the Australian Taxation Office
  • tell us if you don’t need to lodge one.

If you’ve already confirmed your income for Family Tax Benefit (FTB), you don’t need to do it again for CCS.

If you have a partner, they need to lodge their tax return too. If you separated during the year, we also need to know about your ex-partner's income.

If you or your partner don’t need to lodge a tax return, complete an Advise non-lodgement of tax return with us. Do this using either your:

If you’ve told the ATO you don’t need to lodge a tax return, you still need to let us know. This is so we can confirm your actual income.

How to track your balancing

Keep track of your balancing online or in our app. We’ll also send you a letter once we’ve balanced your payments. You’ll get the letter in your myGov Inbox or the post, depending on how you get letters from us.

What the debt pause during coronavirus (COVID-19) means for you

If we think we’ve paid you too much during the year, we won’t finish balancing your payments straightaway. This is because we’ve paused some debt activities due to COVID-19.

If your balancing is paused, you don’t need to do anything. We’ll finish balancing your payments and write to you once the debt pause has ended.
