Understanding your Child Care Subsidy balancing outcome
30 September 2021
When we’ve balanced your Child Care Subsidy (CCS) we’ll write to you to let you know the outcome.
When we balance CCS, there are three possible outcomes.
If you didn’t get enough CCS during the year, we’ll pay you a top up. This top up will include any withholdings you might be eligible for.
We withhold 5% of your CCS during the year to help reduce your risk of getting a debt. If you increased your witholding percentage during the year, you may get more than 5% back when we balance your payment.
If you have an outstanding child care debt, we may recovery it from your CCS top-up payment.
If we’ve paid you the right amount during the year, there’ll be no change to your CCS.
If we paid you too much CCS during the year, you’ll have an overpayment which you will need to pay back.
We can recover your CCS debt from either your:
- child care top ups
- tax refunds.
If you’re experiencing financial hardship it’s important you talk to us. We can work with you to set up a repayment plan you can afford.
We have paused some debt activity for people who live in a locked down Local Government Area. Read more about this here.
