Support for families in flood affected areas
31 March 2021
If you’re directly affected by the recent floods, we have payments to help you and your family.
Families who are affected by the floods may be eligible to claim the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment. This is a lump sum payment of:
- $1,000 for eligible adults
- $400 for each eligible child under the age of 16.
You can also claim Disaster Recovery Allowance if you’ve lost income as a direct result of the floods. If you’re eligible you can get it for up to 13 weeks, starting from the date you lose income.
Read more about the rules about who can get these payments.
Additional Child Care Subsidy Temporary Financial Hardship
This is short term help for families using child care and who are in significant financial hardship.
Find out who can get the Temporary Financial Hardship subsidy. To get it, you must apply within 6 months of the event.
