Some debts aren’t showing in Money you owe

23 April 2021

If you’re part of the Income Compliance class action, some debts may not appear in the Money you owe service.

This is because we recently quarantined debts for some people who are part of the Income Compliance class action.

Quarantining a debt makes sure any debt recovery activities, like interest charges or recovery letters, remain on hold. We did this while the class action legal proceedings are ongoing.

This means some Income Compliance debts may no longer display in the Money you owe service in your Centrelink online account. This only applies to debts where a customer hasn’t entered into a payment arrangement. Most members of the class action won’t notice a change.

We apologise for the confusion this has caused.

While the debts aren’t currently appearing in Money you owe, they remain on your record and Statement of Debt. You can request a Statement of Debt through your Centrelink online account or by calling your regular payment line.

If you’re unsure about what you’re seeing in Money you owe, you can call us on your regular payment line. Our staff can give you information about your individual circumstances.
