Remember to check your bank account details

Ensure your payment goes to the right place by checking your bank account details.
The holiday season is just around the corner. It’s a good time to make sure we have your correct bank account details. You may not have checked this lately if you’ve been receiving Centrelink payments from us.
If your bank details have changed, we need to know so you can continue to get your payment. For example, when a bank branch closes or merges with another branch, your BSB (branch code) number may change.
How to update my bank details
You can safely update your details online. Use your Express Plus Centrelink mobile app or your Centrelink online account through myGov. Read about how to manage where your payments are sent. If you have a Veteran Gold Card, you’ll need to call us on 132 300 to do this.
What bank details do I need to update? Use your most recent bank statement to check your:
- BSB (branch code)
- account number
- account name.
If you open a new bank account, we advise that you keep your old account open until you get your first payment.
If my bank account details have changed and I don’t let Centrelink know
If your bank details have changed and you don’t tell us, your financial institution may return your payment to us. You may not receive your payment.
Take the time and check we have your correct payment details. It’s worth a quick look.
