JobKeeper Payment rate changes from 4 January 2021
9 December 2020
Before your employment income changes, check if you can get an income support payment from us.
On 28 September 2020, eligibility rules and payment rates for JobKeeper Payment changed. The payment rates will change again from 4 January 2021.
From 4 January 2021, the JobKeeper Payment rate is either:
- $1000 per fortnight
- $650 per fortnight if you’ve worked less than 20 hours a week on average during February or June 2020.
These changes mean you may be eligible to get both:
- an income support payment such as JobSeeker Payment from us
- JobKeeper Payment income from your employer.
If you know your employment income is going to change , you can start an early online claim for JobSeeker Payment. You can do this up to 13 weeks before the first day you’re eligible.
There may be other payments that you can get. You can use our Payment and Service Finder to check what payment is right for you.
If you get an income support payment from us, you’ll need to meet requirements. You’ll also need to report your income to keep your payment.
