How to keep your student payment up to date from September 2020

14 September 2020

As a student, you need to know the upcoming changes to your payment so you know what to expect.

There are a few things you need to do, if you want to keep getting one of these payments:

The asset test waiver ends on 24 September 2020. This means you need to tell us about your assets. We'll contact you to ask you to update your asset details online before 24 September 2020.

If you update your assets and they’re over the allowable amount for your situation, you won’t be eligible for payment.

If you update your assets and they’re under your allowable amount, you’ll keep getting your payment.

If you don’t tell us about your assets, we’ll stop your payment on 25 September until we have the details.

If you get Youth Allowance or ABSTUDY and dependent, your parents or guardians need to tell us their income. We’ll send you a letter asking your parents or guardians to complete a parental income test reassessment. Your parents or guardians need to follow the instructions or we may stop your payment.

Debt activities have temporarily paused but you still need to keep your details up to date. This will stop you getting into debt at a later date.

The Coronavirus Supplement has been extended past 24 September 2020. It will continue at a rate of $250 per fortnight until 31 December 2020. You don’t need to do anything if you’re already getting the Coronavirus Supplement.
