Extra coronavirus (COVID-19) support if you get Child Care Subsidy
28 September 2021
You may be eligible for more Child Care Subsidy absences.
You can access these absences if you live in, or your child attends or attended care in a Commonwealth declared COVID-19 hotspot of more than 7 days.
These are also known as allowable absences for a special purpose.
Absences will be available until the hotspot declaration ends.
You don’t need to do anything. If you’re eligible they will automatically be applied.
This means you won’t have to use your regular 42 allowable absences.
Read more about Using absences in an emergency event.
The Department of Health website lists the current hotspots.
