Debt repayments have been paused during lockdown

3 August 2021

We’re pausing Centrelink debt raising and new debt recovery in locked down Local Government Areas.

If you’re in a COVID-19 lockdown area and get a debt letter, you don't need to do anything.

If you had a debt with us before COVID-19 lockdown, your payment arrangements will remain the same.

If you need to change your payment arrangements, you can update them online. You can also pause your repayments for up to 3 months.

You can do this by selecting Money you owe in your Centrelink online account through myGov or Express Plus Centrelink mobile app.

Next steps

If you need extra support, our social workers provide short-term counselling and can refer you to other services.
